5th ENVRI week - Málaga 6-10 November 2017
ENVRI week is organized twice a year, in November and in May. It hosts ENVRIplus project related sessions as well as several other sessions targeting different groups of stakeholders.
This 5th ENVRI week hosted a Joint workshop of ESFRI Environment Strategy Working Group and ENVRI community on Landscape of Environmental Research Infrastructures. The workshop was organised on Tuesday 7 November. After an introduction session including a landscape analysis by Andreas Volz, rapporteur of the ESFRI Working Group and a presentation of ENVRI by Werner Kutch, coordinator of ENVRIplus project, the workshop was divided in 5 thematic sessions:
- Research Infrastructures Innovation
- Socio-economic impact of Environmental RIs
- Data and e-needs, ENVRI community and EOSC
- International activities and role of Environmental RIs
- Regional impact, pan-European dimension
Each session was organized as a moderated discussion around a panel of 4 to 5 specialists among the RIs represented in ENVRI, from an introductory 15 minutes presentation by one of the panellists. The session on international activities was moderated by Claire Gourcuff from Euro-Argo. The reports of these discussions will be make available to ESFRI before the end of November.
The other days of the week were dedicated to ENVRIplus workpackages and themes meetings, together with the 6th BEERI (Board of European Environmental Research Infrastructures) meeting on Wednesday 8th morning and a plenary session on Wednesday afternoon.
Within the task 1.2, Euro-Argo and its partners are commited to provide a prototype float with the capacity to acquire underwater pCO2 measurements. Based on a NKE provor/Wapiti platform, Ifremer has produced the equipment, and firsts tests are about to be performed in the Ifremer basin before a deployment in real conditions early 2018.
