First Moroccan float deployed!
One of the objectives of the Euro-Argo RISE H2020 project is to approach new countries outside of the Argo community, to initiate or continue collaborations with partners at regional level, and help them developing national Argo programmes, to ultimately increase Euro-Argo membership.
In that context, a Spanish Argo float was donated from the Spanish Oceanographic Institute (IEO - Intituto Espanol de Oceanografia) to the Moroccan Institut National de Recherche Halieutique (INRH). The float was deployed jointly by scientists from IEO and INRH during the RAPROCAN1911 cruise, between the Canary Islands and Morocco.
The full deployment report can be downloaded here.
This float (6901261) is the first Moroccan float of the global Argo network, and will contribute to the observation of ocean properties in the region.
